holds it to be in the acc. case as an adv. n. of
place, for ◌ِعَلَى وَحْدِه, (IB,K,) like ◌ُعِنْدَه :(TA:)
and there is a third opinion, that of Hisham;
that it is in the acc. case as an inf. n. (L.) Or,
(accord. to IAar, L,) it is a noun used as a
nonn absolutely : (L, Ķ :) so in the dial. of the
وجَلَسَ وَحْدَّهُ Benoo-Temecm:(Mab:) you ssy

Je. A ewe bringing forth, or that brings

no one to cheer him by his society, conversation,
or company. And "ْرَجُلٌّ مُتَوَحَد A man who
remains alone, by himself, apart from others,
or solitary, not mixing with other people, not

(S, L) _ ◌ْأَحْدَان, the pl. of اوحد ٢, is applied
by a poct to dogs having no equals or matches.
(S, L) فُلاَنْ لَا وَاحِدَ لَهُ ـــ Such a one has no
equal, like, parallel, or match. (S, M, L.) _
Also, One that has no equal ; one unequalled.
(I) - ◌ِفُلَانْ وَاحِدُ دَهْرِه Such a person is the
unequalled one of his age. ($, L.) And in like

signifies one of ten : (L:) [i.e., the former sig-
nifies one of several things whereof each is
alone, or by itself:] and the same explanation
is given by [several] old authors. (TA.) [In
; العُشْر I find , العَشْرَة one copy of the S, instead of
which affords a good sense, i.e., that ,, is
syn. with Je ly; and may be the true reading.]

The الإِنسَانُ وَالفَرَسُ وَاحِدٌ فِى الجِنْسِ -. أحد
human being and the horse are one in genus.

gular, as opposed to plural : pl. 1; (The
أَصْحَابِى وَأَصْحَابُكَ وَاحِدٌ - (.lexicons, passim

الجُلُوسُ وَالقُعُودِ وَاحِدْ and the same]. And

existing thing; so that there is no number to
which it may not be applied as an epithet ;
wherefore one says, عَشَرَةٌ وَاحِدَة [One ten], and
One hundred]. (Er-Raghib) It] مائَةً وَاحِدَةً
is interchangeable for Je when used as an
epithet applied to God; and in certain nouns
of number. [See art. __ i.] In most cases
differing from these two, there is a difference in
usage. The latter is used in affirmative phrases
as a prefixed noun only, governing the noun
which follows it in the geu. case; and is used
absolutely in negative phrases : whereas the
former is used in affirmative phrases as a prefixed
or وُهُوثَة ,Ror. 2 , [inf. n., probably. وَحُشَ .1
or both,] It (a place) abounded with wild وَحَاشَةٌ]
without the article, it is indecl. : but when ren-, animals. (IKtt.) [The meaning assigned to this

Our provisions have been قَدْ أَوْحَشْنَا مُنْذُ لَيْلَتَيْنِ
توحّش " ,spent for tro nights. (S.) You say also

quietude or trouble of mind, &c. ; and fear, &c. ].

a want of the thing]. (K, voce _Sze, q. v.) You
say also واستوحش منه (A, TA,) or ◌ُعَنْه, (Meb,)
[meaning He was afraid of, or feared, him, or
it; agreeably with an explanation of the inf. n.
in Har, p. 331 : see also an instance below, voce
: or] meaning he was shy of him ; averse
from him; unsocial, unsociable, or unfamiliar,
with him ; and like a wild animal. (TA.)_

animal], and ◌َّهُذِهِ شَاةً وَحْش [this is a wild sheep

act is performed, or the mater that is prepared

an inf. n., [or rather a quasi-inf. n., signifying
the act itself ]: (S, Ķ :) or they are syn. words
of two different dialects, each sometimes used as
an inf. n., signifying the act, (though inf. ns. of
the measure Joas deviate from constant rule,
TA,) and each sometimes as signifying the
water. (S, Ķ, TA.) AA says, that inog sig-
nifies " the water with which one performs the
ahlution above mentioned; " and he knew not

Or وَضَحَ الرَّاكِب signifies the rider came forth :

sought for information respecting it ; inquired

sometimes used in this sense, metonymically.
(Ş.) - zog A mark in a horse differing in
colour from the generality of kis coat. You say
(.In the horse is such a mark. (S بالفَرْسِ وَضَحْ
- ¿ og A blaze, or white mark on a horse's
forehead or face. (K.) __ What is termed
Jeg's in the legs of a horse. (L, Ķ.) And
also applied to other varieties of colour. (L.) __
A horse having a blaze and what فَرَسُ ذُو أَوْضَاجٍ
is termed تحجيل .(A.) - وضَح Whiteness of
the hair, or hoariness ; or white, or hoary, hair.
(K.) _ : Milk : (L, Ķ :) thought by ISd to
bc so called because of its whiteness : or milk
that has not been mixed with water : (L:) or
that is just drawn. (TA, art. jej.) Aboo-Dhu-
eyb says,

عَقَّوْا بِسَهْرِ فَلَمْ يَشْعُرْ بِهِ أَحْدْ
ثُمْ أَسْتَفَاؤُوا وَقَالُوا حَبَّذَا الوَضَحُ
[They shot an arrow towards the sky, and
no one knew of it : then they returned, and
said, An excellent thing is milk ] : menn-
ing, we would rather have milk than the
blood of him who has killed our companion :
thicy preferred that camcls should be given

The middle, or main وَضَحْ - (.TA). أوضَاحٌ
part and middle, of a road ; tho part of a road

Ķ:) or, of stones; (El-Mcsbarik ;) i. e. of silver-
stones : (Towshoch :) so called because of its
أَوْضَاحْ K) or): أَوْضَاحْ .whiteness : (TA:) pl
significs a kindof woman's ornament (ge) made
of whole [silver coins such as are called] als :
(S:) and (according to rone, TA,) وَضَح Nig-
nifics un anklet ; y"- ◌ٌخَلْخَال (K) -وَضَحْ ـ (K)or
L, but the latter word is there) ,وَضَحُ الطَّرِيفَةِ
written any,) Small portions, or parts, of
herbage; (L, K;) what has become white thercof:
أَوْضَاحْ مِنْ كَلَّا L:) or): أَوْضَاحٌ .AHu :) pl)
signifies somewhat of herbage that has become
white : (As :) Az says, I have mostly heard the
term zwoj, with respect to herbage, applied to
the ◌ّنَصِى and ◌ّصلّيّان صَيْفِى which is not a year
old and has not become black :. and on another
occasion he says, that it is the remains of the
Whitences وَضَحْ - (only. (L صلّيَان and خليّ
prcdominating over other colours in sheep or
goats, overspreading generally the whole body :

face: (T:) you smy also * ◌ٌلَهُ تَوْضيح . (I)
وَضَحُ القَدَمِ ـــ 1 see: مِنْ أَيْنَ بَدَا وَضَحُكَ -
Whiteness of the hollow of the sole of the
