Ibn Abī Mulaykah alds narrates that it was said to
Sayyidunā Ibn 'Abbas ketil, "Do you have
anything to say regarding the leader of the
believers, Muawiyah, for he only performs one
rak'ah for Witr salah?" He replied, "What he has
done is correct. He is indeed a faqīh (a jurist, well-
versed in regards to laws of Sharī'ah)."
Sayyiduna Muawiyah Meals was from amongst
those Sahabah Realy who would issue fatawa
(legal edicts).

The minimum for Witr salah according to majority
of the jurists, including Imam Shafi'ī, Imam Malik
and Imam Ahmad, is one rak'ah. Imam Abu Hanīfah
however is of the view that the minimum is three
rak'ahs. Details can be found in the books of Hadith
and fiqh.

Paradise is guaranteed for him

Sayyidatuna Umm Haram (ca", narrates that she
heard Nabi ◌َصَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم saying, "The first army of my
ummah to undertake a naval expedition, paradise is
assured for them." Sayyidatuna Umm Haram Goals
says, "I asked (Rasulullah ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم) :Will I be from
amongst them?" He ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم replied, "You will be

city of the Caesar, they will be forgiven." I then
asked (again), "Will I be from amongst them O
Rasulullah?" He ◌َصَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم replied, "No."
Sayyidunā Muawiyah teurs, the governor of the
Levant at that time, was the general of the first
naval expedition of Islam. The expedition took
place in the reign of Sayyiduna 'Uthman deals
against the Byzantine Empire. Hence, this hadith is
a glad tiding for Sayyidunā Muawiyah; Jannah is
guaranteed for him.
This hadith is also a glad tiding for Yazid ibn
Muawiyah (che). He was the first to invade the
city of the Caesar. Just like his father deaths, Yazid
ibn Muawiyah (ecaul") has also been the target of
criticism due to the historic fabrications against
him. Nevertheless, this hadith serves as a glad
tiding for him.

Scribe of Revelation, personal scribe of Nabī

Sayyidunā Ibn 'Abbas kcal, narrates that (initially)
the Muslims would not look to Sayyidunā Abū
Sufyan del. (with respect) nor sit in his company.
So he (once) said to Nabi ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم ,"O Nabi of
Allah! Confer upon me three things." He
replied in the affirmative. So he continued, "I have

the best and most beautiful (woman) amongst the
Arab, Umm Habībah bint Abī Sufyan; I wish to
marry her off to you." He ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم replied in the
affirmative. He (Sayyidunā Abu Sufyan kedl)
continued, "(My son) Muawiyah, I request that you
take him as your personal scribe." He cta
acceded to his request. He (Sayyidunā Abu Sufyan
dal) continued, "I request that you assign me as
the General of the (Muslim) Army so that I can fight
the disbelievers as I used to fight the Muslims
(before I accepted Islam)." He ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم granted
him his wish.
Sayyidunā Abu Sufyan Meals accepted Islam on the
day of the conquest of Makkah in the 8th year of
hijrah. His daughter, Sayyidatunā Umm Habībah
was
already married to Rasūlullah
at this time. Hence, there is an apparent
objection to the first clause in the hadith. The

commentators of hadith mention that there are
two
possible
explanations.
Firstly,
when
Sayyidatunā
Umm
Habībah
married
Rasulullah Ucleafs, it was without the pleasure of
her father, Sayyidunā Abu Sufyan Meal .. Hence, he
wished to renew the marriage between them and
bless the marriage himself. The second possible
explanation is that Sayyiduna Abu Sufyan deals
wished to marry off a second daughter to
Rasūlullah Uckeauf due to the honor and blessing
he had seen from the first. This explanation is
taken from the hadith narrated in the Sahihayn
where Sayyidatunā Umm Habībah (saules proposed
to Rasulullah ◌َصَلَّاللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم to marry her sister. In this
case, it will be said that the name mentioned in this
hadith is an error from one of the narrators. The
narrator mentioned Umm Habibah in place of the
other daughter's name.
