Barakātuhū has asked me to write a foreword to his
kitab on Sayyidunā Hadrat Mu awiyah deals. I am
not even the last person on the surface of the earth
worthy or fit for this great and honourable task.
But I really appreciate Muftī Saheb's kindness by
which, Insha'Allah, I can also have a full share in
this great and honourable work and also a full share
in defending, honouring and expressing my
heartfelt love and honour for the Great Sahabah
إرَضِّ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ including Sayyiduna Muawiyah رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمُ
They, deals, are shining stars of Rasulullah

By their Barakat Allah djs will protect us in this
dunya and the Akhirat. Āmīn!
Hadrat Muftī Sāheb Dāmat Barakātuhū has done a
superb job and contributed very adequately to this
great need at this time, when some people are
determined to try and change true realities and
giving a totally warped picture of history and the
Great luminaries, the Șahabah
and رَضِاللهُعَنْهُمْ
particularly one of their targets, Sayyiduna
Mu awiyah ◌ُرَضّ اللَّهُ عَنْه .May Allah ◌ُجَلَّ جَلَاله guide us all to
righteousness and the best. Hadrat Muftī Saheb has
very fairly and clearly shown the great and
honourable position of all the Sahabah als from
the Qur'an Sharif and the Ahadith e Mubarakah and
the great virtues and qualities of such a Great
Person as Hadrat Sayyiduna Mu awiyah deal ..! His
great qualities like being the scribe of Rasūlullah
Lockeauf. and being blessed with the special du as

of Rasulullah Ucckal, being promised with
Jannat, his justice, generosity, being trustworthy,
truthful and his humility and especially his love for
Rasulullah ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم and the Ahle Bayt ◌ُرَضِ اللَّهُ عَنْهُم! And
so many other great, great qualities.
May Allah Js grant great acceptance to this
great work, make it most beneficial for all, make it a
means to increase our love and honour for all these
great personalities, remove all doubts and
misgivings about them and to be resurrected with
them in the Hereafter! May Allah a. j. accept
Muftī Saheb's efforts fully and bless him and all
'Ulama and the whole Ummat with great works of
Dīn! Āmīn, Āmīn, Āmīn Yā Rabbal Ālamīn !!

ـمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمنِالرَّحِيمـ

All praise is due to Allah Jus, så, who has selected
the illustrious Sahabah Realy to be the rightful
. صَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ companions of Rasulullah
May Peace and Salutations be upon our beloved
Prophet, Muhammad Ucckauf who guided the
Șahabah Reals to the path of success, as well as
upon his noble companions, who have been
pronounced to be our role models, and upon his
family and all those who follow them till the Day of
Resurrection.
Love and veneration for each and every Sahabi
detkg is an integral part of our faith. Harboring ill-
feelings for and speaking ill of any of the illustrious

Sahabah sul puts one's iman in jeopardy. I quote
below a few verses from the Qur'an and a few
Ahādīth that establish the virtues of the Sahabah
. رَضِ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ
وَالسَّابِقُونَ الْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ وَالَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُمْ
يِإِحْسَانٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرِي
تَخْتَهَا الْأَنْهَارُ خَالِدِينَ فِيهَا أَبَدًا ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
"And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the
Muhajirin and the Ansar and those who followed
them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with
them and they are pleased with Him, and He has
prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers
flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the
great attainment." 1

أُولَئِكَ الَّذين امتحن الله قُلُوبهم للتقوى لَهُم مغْفرَة وَأجر

عَظِيم
"They (the Sahabah) are the ones whose hearts
Allah has tested for righteousness. For them is
forgiveness and great reward."
أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينِ هَدَاهُمُ اللهُ وَأُولَئِكَ هُمْ أُولُوا الْأَلْبَابِ﴾
"Those are the ones Allah has guided, and those are
people of understanding."
هُوَ الَّذِي أُنزل السكينَةِ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤمِنِينَ ليزدادوا إِيمَانًّا مَعَ
إِيمَانهمٌ
"It is He who sent down tranquillity into the hearts
of the believers (the Sahabah) that they would
increase in faith along with their [present] faith."

مُحَمَّدُّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِينَ مَعَهُ أَشِدَّاءُ عَلَى الْكُفَّارِ رُحَمَاءُ بَيْنَهُمْ
تَرَاهُمْ رُكَّعًا سُجَّدًا يَبْتَغُونَ فَضْلًا مِنَ اللَّهِ وَرِضْوَانًّا سِيمَاهُمْ فِي
وُجُوهِهِمْ مِنْ أَثَرِ السُّجُودِ ذَلِكَ مَثَلُهُمْ فِي التَّوْرَاةِ وَمَثَلُهُمْ فِي
الْإِنْجِيلِ كَزَرْعٍ أَخْرَجَ شَطْأَهُ فَازَرَهُ فَاسْتَغْلَظَ فَاسْتَوَى عَلَى
سُوقِهِ يُعْجِبُ الزُّرَّاعَ لِيَغِيظَ بِهِمُ الْكُفَّارَ وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْهُمْ مَغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًا؟
"Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those
with him (the Sahabah) are forceful against the
disbelievers, merciful among themselves. You see
them bowing and prostrating [in prayer], seeking
bounty from Allah and [His] pleasure. Their mark is
on their faces from the trace of prostration. That is
their description in the Torah. And their
description in the Gospel is as a plant which

produces its offshoots and strengthens them so
they grow firm and stand upon their stalks,
delighting the sowers - so that Allah may enrage by
them the disbelievers. Allah has promised those
who believe and do righteous deeds among them
forgiveness and a great reward."
وَالَّذِينَ جَاءُوا مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا اغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلإِخْوَانِنَا
الَّذِينَ سَبَقُونَا بِالْإِيمَانِ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ فِي قُلُوبِنَا غِلَّا لِلَّذِينَ آمَنُوا
رَبَّنَا إِنَّكَ رَءُوفٌ رَحِيمُ﴾
And [there is a share for] those who came after
them (the Șahabah), saying, "Our Lord, forgive us
and our brothers who preceded us in faith and put
not in our hearts [any] resentment toward those
who have believed. Our Lord, indeed You are Kind
and Merciful."

يُبَشِّرُهُم رَبُّهُم بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَانٍ وَجَنَّتٍ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا نَعِيمٌ مُّقِيمٌ
Their Lord gives them (the Sahabah) good tidings of
mercy from Him and approval and of gardens for
them wherein is enduring pleasure.
Rasulullah ◌َصَلَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم warned,
اللَّهَ اللَّهَ فِي أَصْحَابِي لَا تَتَّخِذُوا أَصْحَابِي غَرَضًا مَنْ أَحَبَّهُمْ
فَبِحُبِّي أَحَبَّهُمْ وَمَنْ أَبْغَضَهُمْ فَيِبُغْضِي أَبْغَضَهُمْ وَمَنْ آذَاهُمْ فَقَدْ
آذَانِي وَمَنْ آذَانِ فَقَدْ آذَى اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَيُوشِكُ أَنْ يَأْخُذَهُ.®
"Fear Allah, fear Allah in regard to my companions.
Do not take my companions as a target (for abuse).
Whosoever loves them has indeed loved them for
his love for me. And whosoever despises them has
indeed despised them for his hate for me. Whoever
causes them annoyance has indeed caused me

annoyance. And whoever causes me annoyance has
indeed caused Allah annoyance. It is very likely that
Allah will take him to task."
مَنْ سَبَّ أَصْحَابِي فَعَلَيْهِ لَعْنَةُ اللَّهِ وَالْمَلَائِكَةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
لَا يَقْبَلُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ صَرْفًا وَلَا عَدْلًا؟
"Whoever speaks ill of my companions, then may
the curse of Allah, the angels and mankind all
together be upon him. Allah will not accept any
obligatory actions from him nor supererogatory."
Sayyidunā Muawiyah deals), aside from being his
brother-in-law and confidant, is one of the closest
of the companions to Rasulullah ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم . To
speak ill of him and to slander him is a threat to
one's faith. Yet, he has been the target of criticism

due to the fabrications found in the history
literature against him and his son. Lately, there
have
been exposures of
some
prominent
individuals who ascribe themselves to the Ahlus
Sunnah wal Jamā ah yet speak ill of Sayyidunā
Muawiyah &als. Thus, to preserve the iman of the
people and to refresh the love of Sayyiduna
Muawiyah Medkg in our hearts, I was inspired to
pen a few of his virtues. The Hadith and history
works contain all sorts of narrations regarding him,
reliable and unreliable. Unfortunately, just as there
are
many
fabrications
against
Sayyidunā
Muawiyah &ewhy by the Rafidis, there are just as
many fabrications in praises of him by the Nasibīs.
Imam Ibn Jawzī xix laments in his Mawdu at,
"Fanaticism of some people who claim to be upon
the sunnah has led them to fabricate Ahadith
regarding his (Sayyiduna Muawiyah &dl) virtues

so that they may annoy the Rafidīs, and likewise
some of the Rafidīs have fabricated Ahadith in
dispraise of him. Both groups are in gross error."
Hence, I commenced with this compilation to
gather and present a glimpse of what is reliable in
praises of Sayyiduna Muawiyah deals.
Sayyidunā Muawiyah Meals is most certainly not
in need of our praises; rather we hope that through
this we increase in our faith and rank in the sight of
Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى. We pray and hope that Allah
accepts this humble effort from us and سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى
makes this a means of our salvation on the Day of
Judgment.
Lastly, I would like to present my heartfelt
gratitude to all my teachers who have engrained
love for all the Sahabah Reduk. in me. I would also

Brief Biography
The world has seen many leaders and kings, but
very few coupled their leadership with justice.
Injustice and oppression are often synonymic with
leadership and kingship. Yet, the first king of Islam,
Sayyiduna Muawiyah deals, showed the world
that justice and leadership can be coupled. He
followed the footsteps of his predecessors, namely
Rasūlullah Udeaf and the four rightly guided
caliphs kcale). Hereunder are a few words to
introduce this great personality.
Sayyiduna Mu awiyah deals was born five or seven
years prior to the prophethood of Rasulullah
Lskal .. He is Abu Abd al-Rahman Mu awiyah
ibn Abī Sufyan Şakhr ibn Harb ibn Umayyah ibn
Abd as-Shams ibn 'Abd Manāf ibn Qusayy ibn Kilab
Al-Qurashiyy Al-Umawiyy. His mother was Hind

bint 'Utbah ibn Rabi'ah ibn 'Abd as-Shams ibn
Qusayy. His lineage meets up with the lineage of
Rasulullah togattaus at 'Abd Manaf. He and his
family were well-respected amongst the Arabs.
Sayyiduna Mu awiyah deals, was handsome. He was
tall in height, fair in complexion. His skin was soft.
He had a beautiful smile. His face expressed the
qualities of forbearance and kindness. He would
often dye his hair and beard with yellow dye. His
beard would look golden.
Islam was embedded in the heart of Sayyidunā
Muawiyah deals from a young age. He brought
faith in the Oneness of Allah سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى and the
prophethood of Rasulullah Ucleaif at the time of
Șulḥ Al-Hudaybiyah.
However, in fear of
persecution from his father and family, he
concealed his faith till the conquest of Makkah

when his father accepted Islam. Prior to his Islam,
he did not play a role in the harassment
experienced by Rasulullah Leal and the
Muslims at the hands of the Makkans. Despite his
young and energetic age, he did not partake in any
of the battles against the Muslims.
When his family accepted Islam at the conquest of
Makkah Mukarramah, they migrated to Madinah
Munawwarah. There Rasulullah Udf paired
him with Sayyiduna Hattat ibn Yazid &edile as
brothers.
Due to his honesty and reliability, Sayyiduna
Murawiyah ◌ُرَضِّ اللَّهُ عَنْه served Rasulullah ◌َصَلَّ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم as
his personal scribe as well as a scribe of revelation.
He also fought alongside Rasulullah kaf in
the battles. Rasulullah Ukai was pleased with
him and loved him dearly.
